REAL IDEAS EMERGE.
AAF District 7

From the Governor

TestHola!  I’m still recovering from our tour to the Bristol Motor Speedway! What a start to my first Leadership Conference as Governor of District 7! The conference committee from AAF Northeast Tennessee has set the tone for my year as Governor. After all the comments I’ve heard from many attendees, I must agree that this was one of the best Leadership Conferences we have had in District 7.

I want to thank Teresa Treadway, Jessica Bland, Dawn Roller, Scott Emerine and the rest of the committee for their dedication to District 7. Their small-in-numbers-but-big-in-heart club came across with all the great speakers, workshops and events that we’d expect from a club twice their size. What a great accomplishment for AAF NE TN. Thank you again!

Our fall conference will be here before you know it!  AAF West Tennessee will host our Fall Conference, October 17-19.  What a thrill to have two conferences this year in my home state of Tennessee!  Bev Vos, Todd Mullins and the rest of the committee are ready to accommodate the attendees in Jackson, Tenn. In addition to the District Board meeting, the Fall Conference consists primarily of ADDY workshops. Tim Templeton, our National ADDY representative, will conduct one of the ADDY workshops and Angela Wires from Knoxville (Student ADDY chair) will conduct a workshop to promote our Student ADDYs.

What an exciting year to be your Governor – a year that so far has included our 60th anniversary and the change of our District name to AAF District 7. I’m looking forward to a wonderful remainder of the year and getting to know each and every President in our District.

I will keep reminding everyone this year that, as the first Hispanic Governor of the District, my primary focus will be on the AAF’s Mosaic initiative. As you read my theme in the District Directory,
consider that “Real Ideas Emerge” when we get close enough to those unlike ourselves. Meet someone new at your home club meetings.  You just might develop a lifelong friendship.

Gracias,
Kathy Jacobus
Governor, AAF District 7
